The top 5 features of Sales Cloud
Salesforce Sales Cloud is a fully customisable CRM that brings together all your customer information — incorporating marketing, lead generation, customer service and in-depth business analytics. It provides access to thousands of applications through the AppExchange, and has a hell of a lot of features to ease the lives of your sales and marketing teams. With all this in mind, I’m not sure why we decided to torture ourselves by narrowing down the list to just five. It was pretty difficult, but we got there in the end…
So, in no particular order, here are what our Salesforce experts consider the top 5 features of Sales Cloud:
1. Sales Cloud Lightning (the new UI)
The Salesforce Lightning UI is much quicker and easier to navigate than Salesforce Classic. It might take a few days to adjust to the new design, but once you do, you’ll be flying around like a Dragon over the Narrow Sea. Salesforce are constantly working to improve the performance of Lightning, with the recent Summer release bringing the biggest speed bump to date.
2. Lightning Console for Sales
You don’t have to work in Service to reap the benefits of a Console view. Sales users can have Consoles of their own, making the most of the tabbed navigation, utility bar, and other great features a Console brings. Lightning Consoles are the new generation of Console, supporting things like Open CTI telephony.
3. Kanban View
Until recently, Kanban view was limited to just Sales Cloud objects, but now Salesforce have shared the love to other objects, including custom objects you may have created yourself. If you’ve ever used Trello, you’ll be instantly familiar with the column-based Kanban layout. It’s a powerful way to visualise your records and see which ones are ‘further along’ than others. Good examples would be viewing Leads by Status, or Opportunities by Stage.
4. Process Builder
Okay, this one’s a bit of a cop-out as Process Builder isn’t tied to one specific “Cloud”. Process Builder is a brilliant point-and-click tool that can be used to supercharge all areas of Salesforce with “if-this-then-that” style automation, without writing a single line of code.
5. Salesforce1 (Salesforce for mobile)
Salesforce continue to improve and expand their mobile offering, the Salesforce1 app, empowering your Sales team to work on Leads, Opportunities, and other records, while on the go. The app is customizable via point-and-click tools, however, you’re also able to add completely bespoke Lightning Components to bridge any gaps in functionality.
It has to be said — Sales Cloud Einstein is some pretty cool stuff. Einstein is Salesforce’s attempt to bring Artificial Intelligence (i.e. ‘the future’) to CRM. In exchange for an additional cost per user per month, you get features like Intelligent Lead Scoring, Account and Opportunity insights. It identifies the Opportunities that are most likely to close, based on the sentiment of emails sent between you and the prospect, field values, and more.
