Becoming the UK’s go-to Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud partner

It’s pretty standard for large B2C businesses to be able to provide their customers with great, modern and personalised online shopping experiences. So why shouldn’t B2B businesses be offered the same? Especially right now where sales reps are unable to get out into the field safely.

The oe:gen team are itching to put their skills to best use during the current pandemic to help UK and Ireland B2B businesses in any way we can, which is why we’re diving headfirst into B2B Commerce Cloud. We want to make sure B2B businesses can get a user experience that not only matches B2C commerce functionality, but expands on it for their B2B-specific needs.

Our background

There is no Salesforce partner like oe:gen in the UK. We’re the experts in Salesforce Community Cloud who excel at user experience (UX) – we now want to be the experts in Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud and bring our UX skills to a new platform. We don’t want to be “just another partner”. We’re committing 100% to become the best B2B Commerce implementation partner in the UK and Ireland.

Previous projects have included ground-up Lightning Community builds with features very similar to the B2B Commerce feature set. This gives us a big advantage when it comes to planning and delivering B2B Commerce projects. To us, it’s a no brainer.

Why are we excited about B2B Commerce Cloud?

B2B Commerce combines our love for Salesforce Communities with a powerful, configurable selling tool. With the Summer ’20 release, Salesforce is introducing B2B Commerce Lightning. This is a complete overhaul of the platform that runs on Lightning components, rather than an older technology called Visualforce. Frankly, we’re dying to get our hands on it.

Why choose oe:gen?

People tend to think that to build the UIs that we do, we have to be using third-party code libraries to give ourselves a leg up, but in most instances, we aren’t.

We’re a team of self-confessed geeks, focused on squeezing the most we possibly can out of the Salesforce platform – from the older Visualforce communities we used to create to the Lightning communities that we find ourselves working on now.

In the last 12 months, our team has grown by 11 consultants and we now have 64 certifications across 20 certified individuals.

We’re Salesforce developers, not web developers who have a strong allegiance to any one particular technology. If it can be achieved through platform-native clicks or code, that’s the way we’ll go, even if it means hitting our heads against the wall for a bit while we figure it out.

We also have a heavy focus on configurability and reusability. These are two core pillars of our delivery approach. We don’t want our customers to have to come to us every time they want to tweak or do something slightly different with one of our components.

A customer admin should be able to do things like change copy, padding, colours, or have a component read from a different object or record in Salesforce. This approach is in our DNA and we’ll be carrying it into everything we do in B2B Commerce.

Right now we have a team of developers working on a set of B2B demo orgs. We’re hoping these can be an early showcase of what’s possible when you bring together experts in Community UX and a platform as powerful as B2B Commerce.
